The legal profession needs experienced and respected lawyers to help new lawyers acquire the practical skills and judgment necessary to practice in a highly competent manner. By providing new lawyers with support and direction during the mentoring term, mentors who actively participate in the NLTP show that they are willing to spend the time and effort required to improve the practice of law and the administration of justice. As experienced lawyers, mentors have the ability to address these historic concerns and shape the future of the profession.
